Philip Woosley, Loyal Designs

I had the pleasure of meeting Philip this weekend and we had  a wonderful lunch of fried fish, rice, frijoles negros, salad, and pupusas asado con queso, all served street-side.
A master craftsman and artist, his bags are amongst the most beautiful I've ever seen. Please support his livelihood and artistry. His bags are available from his website here, or if you are in San Francisco, visit Box Dog Bikes.

In Line Equipment

Local bag maker Eric is now offering porteur bags. His work looks great and he has some exciting bags in the works. You can visit his website here.

Skiving Knife by Jeff Peaches

A fellow San Francisco Randonneusse (who is also a very talented book worker) and I have been talking about leather, leather skiving and different types of tools. Besides making your own knife, you can have one made by Jeff Peaches.

Arbor press/tooling update

My beautiful leather tools are still in the process of being machined to fit into the arbor press. Until the tools are ready, no leather work.
I am fortunate and thankful to have a skilled machinist working on my tools.
If you are one of the nine owners waiting for your bags, you are welcome to borrow my personal bags if you need, just let me know. Sorry for the delay.

In the works

Almost complete.

The handlebar bag is finished, just waiting for trim and the arbor press to install the brass hardware. The set of two panniers will have a lot of leather accents. They should be done by the end of the weekend.

This brown randonneur bag is waiting for the arbor press tooling to arrive, then install the final brass hardware.  The machines are running well now. In addition to these five bags, are two S and S coupler frame bags for the weekend. No brevets for me this weekend!

Sewing machine repairs and maintenance.

Now that the NAHBS is over, I'm very happy to get back to sewing and riding brevets again. I'll be taking a few days off to do some maintenance and repairs on my machines, install some upgrades and modifications. The serger will have a complete overhaul as well, while I wait for new parts to arrive for the LS-1.

For me, the highlight of the show was seeing the work of Philip Woosley,  Loyal Designs. His bags were everywhere and they were stunning. Here is his full set on Mitches MAP touring bike.

There was a third bag, but it was on a bike in the bike room and I forgot to put it out!

more from Loyal at the Ti cycles booth.

Thanks Deb at Rivet Saddles for allowing me to put some bags at her booth.

Rivet Saddles

If anyone is attending NAHBS, I will have a few bags on display at the Rivet Saddles booth.
Deb Banks is a fellow San Francisco Randonneusse  that has completed Paris Brest Paris and is launching a leather saddle line. Her saddles are gorgeous and I encourage everyone to stop by.
I'll be on hand if anyone wants to chat. I'll also have my measuring tape for anyone interested in getting measured up for a custom bag to be made at some point.
